ADUSA Family Foundation Marks 30 Years of Community Impact Through Annual Golf Outing
The ADUSA Family Foundation marked a major milestone this summer, bringing together nearly 500 sponsors and Ahold Delhaize USA associates for its Recognition Dinner at Hershey Lodge ahead of the 30th Annual Central Pennsylvania Golf Outing. The event celebrated three decades of partnership and giving, including approximately $7 million raised in 2026 to support community-focused efforts across the local brand footprints of The GIANT Company, Giant Food and Stop & Shop.
Funds raised through the foundation will be used in 2027 to help these local brands continue building stronger, healthier and more sustainable communities through nutrition, health, social impact and environmental initiatives.
During the recognition dinner, John Ruane, president of The GIANT Company; Ira Kress, president of Giant Food; and Roger Wheeler, president of Stop & Shop, shared how supplier and vendor support helps strengthen communities across their markets.
"It empowers communities. It empowers our associates to be engaged in the communities and giving back in ways that are so meaningful and in ways that touch the lives of people who are struggling," Wheeler said. "It's magic. The humanity is just beautiful."
Make-A-Wish Foundation was one of several nonprofit partners represented at the dinner. Representatives shared how funding provided through The GIANT Company helped grant 19 wishes last year for children facing critical illnesses and their families.
"These wishes reflect our mission to support children's health because they provide a source of hope for children who are fighting critical illnesses," Ruane said.
Food insecurity was also a focus of the evening. As Giant Food celebrates 90 years of serving communities and nourishing families, the Giant Family Foundation made a $990,000 donation to Feeding America to support childhood hunger relief.
"That contribution reinforces our promise to fight hunger across our region and help ensure every child in our marketplace has access to the food they need to thrive, learn and reach their full potential," Kress said.
The following morning, nearly 1,500 golfers took to the links across 11 courses for the annual outing, with the day also featuring the first-ever hole-in-one contest winner. Antonio Lodovici won a year's worth of The GIANT Company gift cards after scoring a hole-in-one at Carlisle Country Club.
For 30 years, the Central Pennsylvania Golf Outing has helped bring suppliers, partners and local brand leaders together in support of community impact. This year's milestone event underscored the power of long-standing collaboration and the meaningful difference it can make for neighbors across the communities Ahold Delhaize USA's local brands serve.
